Scheduling regular visits from a home cleaning service is a great way to keep your home fresh, tidy and clean, for longer, but unless they come to your home every single day, there will always be a certain amount of cleaning that needs to be done between their visits. And, if your household is a particularly busy one, or you share it with small children or pets, you may need to do a little more cleaning between visits.
However, keeping your home clean between visits from your cleaner doesn’t have to be hard, and here are 6 ways to do it without too much stress and time:
1. Clutter run
Carrying out a quick walk-through of your home at the end of every day and picking up clutter – throwing it away or putting in its proper place – can help you keep your home clean and organized for longer. Requiring minimal effort, it’s something most people can easily manage.
2. Shoe removal
When you, or anyone entering your home, keeps their outer footwear on, you might be surprised at just how much dirt, dust and debris can be transferred from outside, to inside. The simple act of removing shoes before entering your home can stop a lot of dirt from getting a foot in the door.
3. Post-meal clean ups
By giving your kitchen countertops and all surfaces a quick wipe down after each meal, you can prevent stubborn stains caused by food or liquid spillages, from taking hold. Load the dishwasher as soon as everyone has finished with their plates, dishes and cutlery, or wash them in the sink; letting them pile up (as tempting as it may be when you’re sated and tired), will only make your job harder, and keep your kitchen looking messy.
4. Shower squeegeeing
Following each use of the shower, take a few seconds to wipe the tiles down with a squeegee, which will help reduce hardwater stains, mold and mildew, and keep your shower looking and feeling fresher for longer.
5. A clean sweep
Whether you use a broom to clean the floors in your home, or a vacuum cleaner, try to carry out this quick activity at least once a day to prevent dirt, dust, pet hair and dander from spoiling your floors. If you don’t have the time for this between visits from your cleaner, you could invest in a robot cleaner, which can be programmed to vacuum your floors as often as you wish.
6. Bin it
Making sure you have enough trash cans around your home can help keep clutter and debris to a minimum, and let’s face it, the less your cleaner has to pick up and throw away, the more time they will have for the tougher cleaning jobs!
While having a regular cleaner won’t eliminate the need for cleaning altogether, you should only have to do a few simple things, such as those listed above, to keep your home clean, fresh-smelling and tidy between visits from your scheduled cleaner.
